At Maptote, we’re always finding new ways to have a little fun with our favorite styles. Proudly designed, cut, sewn, and printed in the USA, our 100% cotton goods are made to be used, loved, and occasionally turned into something delightfully unexpected.
Lately, we’ve been leaning into creativity in a hands-on way (the kind that involves loads of color and a quick clean-up). There’s something extra satisfying about transforming everyday items into something uniquely yours—and lucky for us, our in-house designer Ella shared some fun craft ideas.
She’s dreamed up two DIY projects we can’t stop talking about!

The first is as simple as it gets: grab a set of fabric markers and one of our cotton pouches, and you’ve got an instant activity. It’s perfect for long road trips, kids’ birthday parties, or even a low-key creative unwind after a busy day. No complicated setup, no rules—just color, doodle, and repeat.
What you need:
2. Fabric Paint Markers of choice

There are no rules for this one. Color in, outside the lines - enjoy adding some vibrant colors to your favorite pouch.

The second taps into one of our favorite trends right now: bag charms (because yes, your tote deserves accessories too). Using our signature bandanas, Ella created a dreamy, DIY bag charm inspired by classic dream catchers. It’s a playful way to give your everyday bag a little personality—and a second life for a piece you already love.
What you need:
1. Bandana
2. Miscellaneous beads
3. Clip ring
4. Scissors

Cut long strips from a bandana. You can choose the length and width. Wrap the strips and knot them onto a clip ring or carabiner. Add beads by sliding them onto the dangling bandana strips. Create knots below each bead to hold them in place.
