Please tell us a bit about The Butler Pantry.
The Butler Pantry first opened along Butler Street in 1977 in the famed lakeside resort town of Saugatuck, Michigan. Housed in a beautiful brick historic building, the store stocks a variety of quality kitchenware and pantry items. Foods from local farms and purveyors are also highlighted including cheeses, sustainably sourced meats, local fresh fruit and more. Guests also love our wine selection as well as whole bean coffee and freshly baked cookies.
How did you find Maptote? Why did you choose us?
We've been big fans of Maptote after discovering it in New York. We love the playful designs celebrating local destinations. When we (Kevin & Stephanie) purchased the long-standing Butler Pantry store, our vision was to reinvigorate it, introducing new products catering to current consumer trends in grocery and kitchenware.
When considering creating merchandise, Maptote was our first thought. We listened to the 'How I Built My Small Business' podcast with founder Rachel and were inspired by her story. Knowing Maptote has worked with major retailers, we were pleasantly surprised at the accessibility and affordability, even for a small shop like ours.
Can you describe how the design process was for you? What was your favorite thing about working with us?
The project management was on-point. We received proactive suggestions, timelines and reminders the entire way through. We think the final design really captures the essence of the community.
We loved brainstorming together and receiving guidance in terms of what the Maptote team has found works best. It was a fun stress-free process.
Favorite Maptote custom item and why.
We just love the market tote bag! It's a hefty canvas and the perfect size for strolling & shopping. With The Butler Pantry's expanding wine selection, we're also planning to create a custom wine bag in the future. What better reminder of all the fun times had in Saugatuck than flaunting a cute, graphic Maptote bag from The Butler Pantry.
